Greetings All Community Leaders and Concerned Citizens,
The TUSD (Tucson Unified School District) Board decided not to dismantle the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusiveness (EDI) Department. Praise the Lord! They will continue to fund it at least until 2025. In other words, we have won a battle but not the war. I am pretty sure they will reevaluate the EDI Department again soon. Dr. Kinaha Brown, Assistant Superintendent of EDI, is very grateful the community’s support she received on Tuesday. Your presence and voices made a difference! She is eternally grateful for your support.
However, Dr. Tonya Strozier, Director of African American Student Services, needs our help as well.
First, she needs mentors. She needs at least 10 mentors to check-in with students once a week. Mentors need to be over the age of 18. A background check will be conducted.
